POP of color

I love it when I stumble upon a warn out, run down, peely, raw piece of furniture that some may just see as trash and I immediately see it in its restored chic state of possibility. Like it calling out to me take me home and give me life again. That is the best part about old pieces solid wood with dove tail drawers they were meant to withstand the test of time. That;s exactly what happened when I found this piece. A girl listed on craigslist old dresser in storage unit and because It was about a mile from my home I just had to check it out. and there it was immediately I knew it was to be yellow to match a yellow desk i did and fell in love with a few months back. I used the same warm honey mustard yellow slightly distressed with a clear wax coating, and now it is awaiting its second life in a new home I love this example of "restored chic".

This piece I wanted to try a new technique on. I made it up so not sure what to call it but here is what I did. I sanded the piece real throughly the most I have probablly ever sanded to get a smoth raw wood effect then I used a watered down flat acrlic aqua paint and coated the table 3-4 times heavier in certain areas. Then I lightly sanded again with my hand sander to blend the wood and paint added a wax coat sanded on more time and below was the final product. Loved the worn rustic way it can out alost had a waxy type finish as if the paint somewhat soaked into the wood. sold in 3 hrs.

Antique Tea Cart

 Before
Antique Tea Cart: This beautiful, Antique drop leaf tea/serving cart mid 1950's, it features two back to back  slide out drawers. Top measures 28" by 20" and expands to 28" by 38" with both 9-1/2" leaves up and stands 28-1/2" tall. I applied a crackle paint effect to the top and drawers for a shabby chic rustic look. and new hardware as well love the way it turned out. Perfect for a kitchen, dinning room, sun room, screen porch or you could use it as a side table or night stand as well or for little girl tea parties.

New finds

French style antique blue table

I found this super unique and cute side table at a yard sale a couple weeks ago. It was in rough condition missing the hardware and really worn. But with a little Antique blue paint inspired by my niece Sophia who picked out the color and some new knobs and I little distressing and glazing this old piece is now "shabby chic" and for sale. Price: 75.00

Antique Black desk
I found this awesome solid wood antique desk for a client who had been looking for awhile at a local thrift store. It had a broken drawer, but all it original hard and was such a beautiful solid piece and the perfect size at 4feet not too big and not too small and the price was just right so with a little wood glue, black paint, sanding wood stain and a wax overcoat it gained a whole new life!
