I love it when I stumble upon a warn out, run down, peely, raw piece of furniture that some may just see as trash and I immediately see it in its restored chic state of possibility. Like it calling out to me take me home and give me life again. That is the best part about old pieces solid wood with dove tail drawers they were meant to withstand the test of time. That;s exactly what happened when I found this piece. A girl listed on craigslist old dresser in storage unit and because It was about a mile from my home I just had to check it out. and there it was immediately I knew it was to be yellow to match a yellow desk i did and fell in love with a few months back. I used the same warm honey mustard yellow slightly distressed with a clear wax coating, and now it is awaiting its second life in a new home I love this example of "restored chic".
This piece I wanted to try a new technique on. I made it up so not sure what to call it but here is what I did. I sanded the piece real throughly the most I have probablly ever sanded to get a smoth raw wood effect then I used a watered down flat acrlic aqua paint and coated the table 3-4 times heavier in certain areas. Then I lightly sanded again with my hand sander to blend the wood and paint added a wax coat sanded on more time and below was the final product. Loved the worn rustic way it can out alost had a waxy type finish as if the paint somewhat soaked into the wood. sold in 3 hrs.
